A Garden That Suits Your Lifestyle

Many people delight in the taste of fresh mint leaves, but become frustrated when the plant spreads wildly. Rein in their growth by planting the mint in a large pot or garden container instead. You can then plant the container down in the ground if you like, but the walls of the container will hold the roots captive, and keep the plant from taking over your garden!

The same applies to your garden beds. There are some very good weed mattings available today and the garden mulches or pebbles are a must. Combine these two for low maintenance gardening, no weeds or very little in the way of weeds. Mass plantings will help stop weeds growing too, give plants some room to grow but keep them tighter than recommended. Be careful with ground covers as some of these can get out of hand too and become almost like a weed.

Mark the position of the existing plants and use a circle to show the amount of spread, allowing for future spread. Designating the spread of an existing tree’s canopy tells you how much sun the garden will receive. This is important because plants vary greatly in the amount of sun or shade they can tolerate. Also note any variations in soil conditions, like a boggy area, which you will need to know in selecting plants based on moisture tolerance.

Another cool feature of this free garden design software is the ability to watch the plants grow over the course of one, two and even five years. It’s not enough to just see what your garden will look like at a single snapshot moment when everything looks perfect. This free garden design software allows you to see what your garden will look like at different stages of its development.

Once you create a rock garden there will be little or no maintenance for it. But that’s contingent on you building the rock garden correctly to begin with. The last thing you want is for the rocks to shift during a rainstorm, or for grasses to constantly crop up through the gaps in the stone and have to be weeded away.

So does that make landscape lighting kits pointless? Not at all. There are plenty of applications that actually benefit from dimmer lighting. Border and path lighting meant strictly to outline a perimeter for safety doesn’t require all that much illumination. Likewise, smaller plants (particularly in newly planted gardens) do really well with less intense lighting. Over doing it is a very common beginner mistake so a landscaping kit may just save you from your own excessive ambition!

Use timers or switches to conserve energy. It does not make much sense to keep the lights on during the day. This can be just a plain waste of energy and money. Instead of running the risk of just leaving them on, either hook them up to timers that are light sensitive or use an easy-to-reach switch. Just make sure if the switch is used that it’s turned off when the lights really don’t need to be used.

A big upside, as already mentioned, is price. In my searching, I’ve found landscape lighting kits with up to 14 lights, a transformer and 100 feet of cable for as little as Usd. Seeing that price and the number of included lights really gets most folks excited when, in fact, it should prompt you to ask one question – why is the price so low?

Ecological Landscape Layout And Organic Lawn Treatment

There are many other garden styles that fall within the informal classification. The container garden is a name given to a garden where the beds are replaced by containers such as large concrete vases. This garden is used where space is limited or to make a garden out of a paved over area such as a patio. The wildflower garden is another informal garden. As its name implies it consist of wildflowers. They are usually growing in mixed disarray. A vinyl fence can separate the garden from the surrounding lawn. This creates the effect of islands of color in a sea of grass.

Whether it’s a few simple fixtures or a large, spectacular display of them, landscape lighting can ensure special plants, blooms and designs can be enjoyed 24 hours a day. It is a very good idea to create a plan for this kind of lighting, however, or the end result might be less than was desired.

Bees are vital in gardening because they help aid in pollination. Learn to recognize the good bees from the ones you do not want to see in your garden, such as carpenter bees. Most other bees should be allowed to live freely in your garden for maximum benefits.

Though a great landscape design is beautiful to look at, it might also require some heavy maintenance. Ask garden experts about this and if you cannot hire professional permanently then opt for a low maintenance garden design which you will be able to take care of easily.

The Oriental garden appears informal at first glance. In truth it is actually a very formal and purposeful spatial arrangement of elements. The Oriental garden is the epitome of elegance and style. Everything is full of meaning and symbolism. The careful use of a mixture of plants, stones, and water is the key to a successful garden of this type. The idea is to seek understatement in the themes of the garden. Nothing should be excessive, but everything should be in natural proportion.

Balance – the design shapes that you create need to balance well with one another and not be top-heavy as this will create an odd perspective which may end up making your garden look smaller.

Apart from these ways there is one other way also, in that you have to arrange bamboo pieces which have 1inch diameter. You have to arrange it vertically. These pieces are held together with the help of wire.

Garden Designing – Things You Should Consider

Be certain to purchase outdoor lighting that’s safe and rated for such use. It’s not a bad idea to double check for safety ratings on outdoor lighting. This can help ensure that safety comes first in the design.

Some of them are sent as a gift, normally in the Mystery Gift box. You can also buy them using coins and they range from the cheapest, the Horse Topiary which costs 100 coins to the most expensive, the Buffalo Topiary which costs 5,500 coins. There are three topiaries that can only be bought with FV cash and they are the sheep (5FV), the Llama (10FV) and the Flamingo Topiary (15FV).

For a straight stone walkway, simply stand at one of the ends of the imagined path. Tie one end of a ball of string to something, or have someone hold it for you, and unravel the string as you walk over the planned route to the other end of the walkway. If you like what you see, drive in a stake at each end and secure the string, marking one border of the projected walkway. Similarly, mark out the other border to the left or right of this line (leaving a gap as wide as you want the path to be).

We asked Katrina Wells of Earth Designs to come up with three solutions for three classic problems: a sloping site, an L-shaped garden and a tapering plot. Our advice is to simplify the look of the garden, where possible, by using similar shades to unify the different elements such as decking, paving and walls. As for budget, we’ve suggested where you can make savings. Now all you have to do is pick the plan that’s best for you.

Incorporate in your low maintenance garden design, things that are low maintenance, like pavers, gravel, pebbles, rocks etc but make sure you either have them professionally put down for you or learn how to do the jobs like the professionals. Everything is in the preparation, learn to do the tedious first and the end result will definitely be low maintenance.

Watch out for bugs. It’s a simple fact that most lighting tends to attract bugs at night. When pests are a real concern, it’s important to carefully position landscape lighting to ensure bugs aren’t attracted too close to where people congregate. It doesn’t do any good to spend a lot of time creating a beautiful landscape and adding lighting if no one can enjoy it!
